Can we steer the Boat ?
If you decide on the day that you or any other passengers want to have a go at steering the boat, your skipper will be more than happy to show you how it's done ... just ask!!
Currently due to COVID restrictions unfortunately at this time you will not have access to the back deck of the boat or be able to steer the boat to ensure social distancing is maintained from yourself and the skipper. You will still have full access to the inside of the boat and the open bow deck at the front of the boat.
Will it be warm on board?
Yes our boat has full central heating.
How many people are allowed on board?
Our maximum passenger number excluding the skipper is 12, this number includes children and babies.
Only single households can book from the 29th March until 17th May. If you have a support bubble they are counted with your household.
From the 17th May up until the 21st June up to 2 households can book.
From the 21st June onwards there are no restrictions on bookings.
(Guidelines are subject to change and will be determined by the current government advice on meeting others at the time of your booking).
Where do we board the boat from?
Our cruises aboard 'Lady Harriet' depart from:
Bridgewater Marina, Quayside Close, Boothstown, Manchester, M28 1YB
Is there car parking?
Yes, we have limited car/ coach parking on site, which you are welcome to use at your own risk.
How do I access the boat?
From the canal bank you will step onto the large open rear deck. From here you can enter the boat via a set of steps (5 steps) into the cabin. To access the open bow deck at the front of the boat this is via a set of 4 steps. (Unfortunately there is no disabled access onto the front bow area).
Are you able to accommodate those with restricted mobility?
From the canal bank we have a wheelchair ramp that can be put down to enable a wheelchair to board the large open back deck of the boat.
From here access to the inside of the boat is via our disabled lift situated at the back of the boat.
The lift can accommodate 1 person at a time and is only to be operated by the skipper. Lady Harriet can accommodate up to 3 wheelchairs onboard.
There are restrictions on what size wheelchairs we can take, please discuss with us your requirements.
(Unfortunately there is no disabled access to the front bow area of the boat, access to the front of the boat is via 4 steps)
Is there a toilet onboard?
Yes we have a flush toilet onboard which also has a single handrail inside to help assist those with restricted mobility.
Is there any baby changing facilities?
Yes we have a full baby changing unit in the bathroom.
Can dogs come on board?
Yes up to 2 dogs are welcome on board at your own risk however they must stay off the furniture.
Do you have life jackets?
Yes we have buoyancy jackets if needed, please inform us if you require these at least 48 hours before the cruise.
Can we bring our own food?
You are more than welcome to bring your own food and make use of the on-board facilities.
Can we bring alcohol on board?
Whilst you are welcome to bring alcohol in moderation, excessive alcohol is not permitted to be brought or consumed on board. The skipper has the right to end the trip at any point without a refund if excessive alcohol is brought onboard or deems anyone onboard to be intoxicated.
(Please note whist you are more than welcome to enjoy a drink onboard if you are purely looking for an alcohol fuelled day or a booze cruise then our boat is not suitable for you).
Do I have to operate locks?
No there are no locks along the Bridgewater Canal.
Is there anything you can do for special occasions?
We can provide banners and balloons for your special occasion, just let us know your requirements.
How do I book?
To secure a booking we require a £50.00 deposit which can be paid over the telephone with a credit or debit card or you can also pay by bank transfer. Our contact number is 01942 878606 or 07725 130277. Along with the deposit we also require our booking forms and conditions to be completed and returned. (Until these are received your booking is not confirmed).
We require the final balance for your cruise no later than 7 days prior to departure.
